Cheat Day: Hello Thanksgiving Eve……Hello Appetizers

As luck may have it, we have stumbled upon yet another edition of Cheat Day…..Where pretty much nothing is off limits. That’s right! Hello empty calories, bad carbs and more saturated fat. Oh, the joy! Just what we’ve been waiting for.

It’s been a full week since your last cheat day, so this special unrestricted day calls for greedy tendencies. Something that we’ve all been guilty of at least one day out of the week. Don’t you agree?   However, there’s something that just stands out on this particular day. This Wednesday has got to be the best one ever.

It’s the eve of Thanksgiving, the biggest party night of the year and for several good reasons. For one, most people want to jump start Thanksgiving weekend with a bang, while others stay home with old or new friends. Then you have a vast majority of those who barely have to work on Thanksgiving Day. Well, unless they’re in the food industry, where we all know most restaurants  are still open for business to cater to families who opt to eat out instead.

No matter what, it’s very much a party night. So for all those ready to enjoy a night of dancing to live music, bar specials and plenty of finger foods. Yes to finger foods! But not just simple hors d’oeuvres, but of course, Thanksgiving-inspired appetizers. So feast your eyes on the top turkey day appetizers just in time to set the night off:

Delicious Deviled Eggs

Bye-bye boring deviled eggs. Hello to the more dramatic garnished egg with bacon bits and whatever you feel like topping it with. It’s the holidays so it’s your world. Take a walk on the wild side. You’ll be surprised what you come up with.

Cucumber Cups Stuffed with Spicy Crab

Thanksgiving screams turkey, so why not take a load off and refocus your attention to something you’d least expect, seafood? These yummy healthy appetizers sound delicious. With the crunchy texture of  cucumber mixed with the extra kick of cayenne pepper and the tender taste of juicy crab meat, need I say more?

Pumpkin Cheese Appetizer

You’d be surprised at what a little bit of cream cheese, green onion, chili powder, shredded pepper jack cheese, garlic powder, dried oregano, cumin, cayenne pepper and paprika could make. These festive cheese balls shaped like pumpkins are great for any occasion and perfect for this time of year.

Goat Cheese Crisps

A very delicious, yet simple and easy to make appetizer. All you need is a loaf of French bread, 8 ounces of goat cheese, fresh rosemary, honey and walnut pieces. Cut the loaf into thin slices. Spread the goat cheese evenly on the slices of bread. Bake the bread  at 350 degrees for 10 minutes until golden. Then sprinkle them with walnuts and rosemary. Add a drizzle of honey on the cheese toast. Simply amazing!

Olive Puff Acorns

Puffed-style appetizers are ideally the best go-to appetizers around, because once you prepare the dough, you can pretty much stuff it with just about anything. In this case, the dough is stuffed with olives and carrots. A very strange combo, but the two actually work well with each other to add that acquired taste. When it comes to the warm crisp taste of puffed appetizers it’s out of this world.

Pumpkin Bread and Chocolate

Individual pumpkin breads with a hint of chocolate adds a bit of sweetness to the holiday celebration and not to mention, it taste good too!

Mini Turkey Sandwich Appetizer

You didn’t really think we would forget about turkey day approaching? Well, sometimes you have to prepare your palette for a big day of feasting, so bring on the turkey! These mini turkey sandwiches are filled with cranberry sauce, sliced turkey, cheese and lettuce on a roll. Yes, small in size, but packs a powerful punch when it comes to taste.
